How I Got My First Job: A Journey of Persistence and Growth

As a 3rd-semester student from a non-top-tier college, I've built my career through hands-on learning and real-world projects. This is the story of how I landed my first job in tech.
The Beginning
After my 12th exams, I applied to renowned universities like IIUI and PIEAS but couldn't secure admission. In the PIEAS entry test, I scored 38% due to a lack of preparation. However, instead of focusing on entry tests, I was deeply immersed in web development and building projects.
Building Skills Through Projects
From December 2023 to March 2024, I created 10-15 full-stack projects, primarily using the MERN stack. I also enrolled in the Saylani Mass IT Training program, where I stood out by building projects in React and full-stack development, while most students worked with basic HTML and CSS.
The Breakthrough
While applying for internships on LinkedIn without success, I actively followed the Pakistan Software Development Facebook group. One day, I made a post sharing my skills and asking for internship opportunities. To my surprise, someone commented, offering me an internship! Excited, I reached out to him, and he scheduled an interview.
The Interview
The interview was conducted remotely via Google Meet, where I met Syed Mustafa and Muhammad Talha. They took my interview and asked me to write a Fibonacci series program, which I successfully coded. After that, they finalized my stipend and joining date – April 1, 2024.
Looking Back
Exactly one year later, I look back at this date with gratitude. I will always remember Syed Mustafa and Muhammad Talha, who guided me like elder brothers, reminding me to balance both skills and studies.
